Reflections on Kevin Durant's NBA Finals Injury

Kevin Durant went down early in last night's NBA playoff game versus the Toronto Raptors, injuring his achilles tendon and sidelining him for the remainder of the playoffs.

What surprised many watchers was the applause at Durant's injury from many Raptor's fans.  One of the Toronto players, Kyle Lowry, even tried to quiet the crowd.  A few minutes later, a ground swell cheers of "KD, KD" were heard as Durant exited the floor into the locker room.

Some Raptor fans appeared to be against Durant and the Warriors.  Some perhaps were sympathetic.

One thing you can be sure of, God is always for you.  He is always "in favor" of you, even when you go down with a life-issue injury.

"If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son, but freely gave Him up for us all-how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things."  (Romans 8:31-32)

Coaching is not without those who would appear to be against us.  Perhaps it is a parent, even a player on your own team, perhaps just the way the season is going.

Whatever circumstance or person seems to be against you, remember God is always for you.  He will chant your initials even if you must leave the field of play to take care of yourself.

Lord, help me remember You are always for me.  You are always "in favor" of me.  Help that truth to make a difference when I hear the cheers of the crowd when I fail.
